DATAOPS
Perhaps the most important task of a data scientist is to conceptualize and model a problem and its underlying data appropriately for a given project. Things like data lineage, repeatability, and robustness are things that are often sacrificed when they don’t have to. Rules

Any programming language and libraries may be used. Check the README.md on Github for further details. On October 28th submissions will be run on a HP Z8 workstation with 72 vCPUs, 384GB of RAM, 512GB of Optane block storage, and dual RTX8000 cards. The winner will be selected according to 3 criteria: correctness, speed, and elegance. A link to the code for performing all tasks must be emailed to robert@taif.co no later than 23:00 October 26th. The code must be hosted on an Internet accessible git repository and any commits after the deadline will be ignored.

Prize

The winning team of data scientists will get to bring back HP’s most extreme workstation, the Z8, and use it on their own data for six full months. In addition, the winning team will have their name eternalized on the HP DSO cup, placed for everybody to see and admire in the window of Hyperight Data Club – that is, until next year when they will be challenged once again!

The Valorant Tournament

DSO Tournament is the first corporate computer-game competition for the broader data science community. We work hard, we play hard. The inaugural DSO 22 tournament will be in the free-to-play game Valorant, a collaborative first person shooter similar to Counter Strike but with modern additions such as “heroes” and their spells - evening out the field between seasoned gamers and casual enthusiasts. The necessary computers and peripherals will be provided on-site by HP & HyperX.

To sign up, mark your interest in the signup process for the event. You will receive an email invite to register yourself in the tournament management application. In the meantime, feel free to download and play Valorant at https://playvalorant.com/

Rules

The tournament is double elimination with winner and loser brackets on the map Pearl. Each corporate team needs to have one person working in the domain of data science. Teams must be between 3 to 5 members. For teams of less than 5, filler members will be provided on site. A typical Valorant game can be around 35 minutes, but can be as short as 15 minutes and as long as 70 minutes in extreme- ly rare cases. Depending on the number of teams signed up, qualifier matches will be played during the DSO LAN party on the evening of Friday the 21st. The finals will be played on the last evening of DSO on the 28th of October.

Prize

Team members of the top two teams will also be receiving awesome peripherals from HyperX and other merch to help them work harder and play harder!

LAN Party!!

On Friday the 21th of October we will hold an after-hours LAN party at the Data Club with a multitude of geeky activities. Attendees will be able to enjoy the infamous hot-chip challenge, partake in our energy-drink taste test and debate, wreak havoc on your noob peers in classic game titles such as Tekken 3 on the PS1 and more. We will also run a Valorant workshop for those who are looking to gain competitive edge in the Valorant tournament. Naturally, you’ll be able to experiment and play with the most powerful HP Z workstations together with fellow enthusiasts and data science experts throughout the evening. Ps. If the interest for the HP DSO Valorant tournament is high, qualifier matches will also be held during the Lan Party.

After Mingles

After the key activities of the DSO exhibition are finished with we will continue over to Space gaming arena, stone throw away from the Data Club. At space those who wish to join us at the after party will be provided with drink tickets and free gaming hour with state-of- the-art gaming computers with a wast selection of games. We will of course continue to play additional matches of Valorant in various game modes like Escalation and death match.
